Organizations Helping Supply Silver Star Room

Besides Walmart on the South Loop, other organizations are helping supply our Silver Star Room this year—keeping things available for emergency purposes for APS clients.

Ferguson Enterprises has a competitive campaign going on in their various branches to collect both non-food and food items. These include cleaning products, laundry and dish soap, bleach, toothpaste, chapstick, Ensure, hearty soups and chili, canned chicken and tuna, Ritz and Saltine crackers, Cheez-its and hot cocoa packets. The location with the best effort is in for a fantastic feast!H

Home Instead Senior Care is also working on items to help out. Home Instead has done a “Be a Santa to a Senior” for a number of years, asking the community to donate selected items for needy seniors in our community. LESSB and APS have partnered with them through the years to provide needed items for APS clients at Christmas time. This year Home Instead has chosen some of the larger needed items for APS clients—things like toaster ovens, electric skillets, crock pots, can openers, pillows and pillow cases, and hand-held shower nozzles. They also are collecting smaller items like homeless kits, flashlights and nightlights, kitchen towels, bath towel sets, etc.

And LORCH (Lubbock’s Organization of Residential Care Homes and Assisted Living) is also helping us out this year. They are collecting paper goods of all sorts—kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.

Thanks to these and the many other organizations that partner with us throughout the year.
