Walmart Bags Help Supply Silver Star Room
Lubbock’s South Loop 289 Walmart Store is going all out to help LESSB supply APS clients through our Silver Star Room. Walmart is packaging various items in small to medium bags that customers can take to the check-out counter and pay for. The bags are then set aside for LESSB to pick up and stock our Silver Star Room. Items in the bags include food, hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies, socks, throws, etc. The bags are priced between $5 and $15, depending on what is included.
The setup is just inside the grocery entry door. Signage with the booth tells about LESSB and the way we serve APS clients. Walmart Store Lead Brandon Scribner, who is heading up the project, predicts that LESSB will receive four to six big bins of items by the end of the year. As of the end of October, we have already taken two bins worth of items to the Silver Star Room.
Walmart has been a good partner of LESSB and APS for a number of years. This particular Walmart has given LESSB $22,500 in grant funds over the last nine years. We appreciate the loyal support from Walmart manager Chris Price. Pictured above, from left to right, are Walmart Store Lead Brandon and Walmart Manager Chris Price.
If you haven’t already purchased a bag, be sure and help us out when you go to Walmart! It’s so easy to do!
